Critical Illness Cover

Critical Illness Cover

Critical Illness insurance is similar to Life Insurance but covers life-threatening or serious illnesses, guaranteeing a single, tax-free ‘lump sum’ if you fall ill with any of the medical conditions specified. This policy is often used to repay mortgages or debt, or modify a home (such as for easier access), however the money will be yours to spend in whatever way you need.

Which illnesses does it cover?

Cover may vary depending upon the provider, who will dictate how serious a condition must be to receive a payment. However, listed illnesses commonly include:

  • Certain types and stages of cancer
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Alzheimer’s

Many policies also include permanent disability as a result of injury or illness, and there is often a provision for children.

What is not covered by Critical Illness Insurance?

Any illnesses or conditions that pre-date the policy do not qualify for payment, nor will death. As an impartial, knowledgeable adviser we will be able to make you fully aware of what a policy includes, what it does not, and which product best suits your needs.

Who is it for?

Anyone can benefit from Critical Illness cover. However, it is invaluable for those with little savings or inadequate sick pay coverage from their employer. If you have a larger savings pot, or a partner who can assume your financial obligations, you may not need a policy. At Renshaw Mortgage Solutions, we can expertly assess your circumstances and needs, and find exactly the right policy for you.
